The Pitkin Avenue Business Improvement District took a few punches from Hurricane Sandy. Businesses along the Avenue have now started to clean up, assess damages, and open their doors to their customers and neighbors.
The BID office will be open and available to help stores and other businesses affected by the storm...

When people talk about Brooklyn, these days, the buzz is often centered around the western waterfront communities of Willamsburg and DUMBO, along with Park Slope and the surrounding brownstone neighborhoods.
But this past week, the website
americancity.org (a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting cities and informing the people who work to improve them) shined a bright light on the work of organizations like the Brownsville Partnership and the Pitkin Avenue BID, who are doing both long-term planning and "urban acupuncture" to make the neighborhood a better place.
